In 1920 Anthony Silva opened his first desiccated coconut factory in the major Coconut growing area of Sri Lanka better known as the ‘Coconut Triangle’.
The Coconut Triangle with its fertile soil, year around sunshine and ideal climatic conditions assured the richness and full flavor of fresh coconut which was carefully hand-picked for processing at the perfect ripeness.

Today, nearing its century, Silvermill remains a family business managed by the third generation of the Silva family who are faithful to the same tradition of expert growing, perfect plucking and quality processing of coconut products.
Silvermill has developed modern processing facilities that have successfully ‘Value Added’ the entire coconut into an innovative range of food and non-food products. With complete ‘value addition" to the coconut the family has set the platform for further expansion and consolidation by widening the scope of the organization’s mission from Coconut to Agro business. This has lead to the rapid expansion of the Silvermill Group of Companies into management of plantations, overseas operations and renewable energy.
